SUPER MARIO GALAXY IS AWESOME!

Hi, HighwayPrincess here, and today I'm going to tell you why Super Mario Galaxy is awesome! I know SMG2 and SM3dW are all the rage, but I haven't played them, so here we go...and please don't get mad...(I've never played Mario 64 either...cough, cough)... Anyways I WANT to, just don't have N64.

But I LOOOOOVE SMG. K, fine, I know I sound like a supernerd, and 14-year-old girls are supposed to care about boys...my boy is-a MARIO!!!

In this 3d platformer, the objective is simple: Bowser band Bowser jr. take over the universe and it's up to Mario and Luigi to get the power stars back, to power the observatory. You need 60 stars to defeat Bowser, and I'm 6 stars away!!! Yeah!!! After you collect this many stars, you can fly to the center of the universe and rescue Princess Peach. After the game is complete, you can play as Luigi.

Let's get down to business here, and talk about the powerups. At first Super Mario Galaxy's powerups seemed gimmicky to me, but some of them were really cool. My favorite, of course is the bee mushroom which lets you hover in the air and climb up honey walls. The boo mushroom was cool, and I LOVED the ice and fire flowers in the game. The time limit on these powerups makes for an extra-intense challenge. The spring mushroom gets hated on the internet, but frankly, I really enjoyed it, although it can be frustrating to control. The red star, on the other hand is a powerup I really don't like; just because I had trouble controlling it in that purple coin gateway mission. It took me like an hour to get all those coins. Although it's helpful to get to the top of the observatory, control is still an issue.

When I first played this game, I wasn't all that excited, because I couldn't figure out how to play a 3d Mario game, but once I got to the Bowser battle in the Fountain, and Gusty Garden Galaxy, I was hooked. I hate the swimming controls, (please tell me that Dire Dire Docks is easy to control; I LOVE that song.) My favorite Mario songs are Gusty Garden Galaxy and the Bowser stages from Mario 64 and Galaxy. And all the music from SMB2. I don't know why.

Each stage has a neat gimmick of its own, whether it be precision platforming, or bouncingeverywhere as a spring. For instance, Bouncing Down Cake Lane is all about cake! And Hot and Cold Collide is all about using the ice flower to get across lava. And don't forget King Kaliente or Major Burrows as bosses. I hope they stick around for a long, long time.

Well my friends all I can say is if you have a Wii, PLAY THIS GAME!!!

  1. Great review! Sounds like a really fun game. Makes me feel nostalgic for all the hours my brother and I used to spend playing Super Nintendo. I loved Mario when I was 14, too - and I still do, even though I haven't seen him as much lately! :)
